Street, Sidewalk & Pathway Maintenance

Cold Mix
Pothole Repair
The Town believes that it is in the best interest of the residents to conduct pothole repair on Town-owned streets.  The Town conducts inspections on Town-owned streets for potholes.  They are generally fixed as soon as possible.  Pothole repair usually begins in the spring once the snow has melted.  However, if deemed necessary, a temporary repair can be used during the winter using a cold asphalt mix.  In warmer weather, a hot asphalt mix or a cold permanent mix can be used to fix the pothole.

Pathway Maintenance
The pathways in the Town of Three Hills enhance fitness, health and general life enjoyment.  All pathways are inspected and maintenance is conducted as required.
Street Maintenance
The Town of Three Hills maintains 40.87 kilometers of streets, all of which vary in the amount of maintenance required. Paved surfaces are treated as assets, with both operational and capital replacement components. The operational component involves pothole and larger patching, minor reconstruction, minor overlays and crack sealing. Most major paving and repair takes place during the summer when our capital program is in full swing. Pavement has a life span, and a yearly capital maintenance program ensures that some streets are repaired and/or repaved each year.

Damaged sections of existing roadways, sidewalks and curbs are repaired on a priority basis through the Town of Three Hills maintenance program.  Residents are encouraged to report damage or concerns by calling the Town of Three Hills Office or submitting a  Service Request Form.
Sidewalk Maintenance
Town Sidewalks are inspected regularly for damage, defects and hazards.  When determining a maintenance schedule,  The Town of Three Hills Follows the guidelines as set in the  Sidewalk Inspection Policy.

Based on condition and damage, the Town will consider all viable options available for repair of sidewalks, curbs and gutters, including:
    a. Crack Sealing
    b. Grinding
    d. Replacements
    e. Other viable technological methods

All repairs and maintenance of sidewalks, curbs and gutters are based on the Town’s available financial resources.
